New York City, NY – In a campaign to minimized lead-based paint exposure, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has brought out a rule for exercises that disturbs possibly contaminated painted surfaces. Is your business struck by the EPA’s Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Program Rule?

The rule that required Lead Certification Courses went into effect on April 22, 2010. The federal agency has settled to detain enforcement of the rule until October 1, 2010. Your are affected by this EPA’s RRP rule if your company or you does work that falls into one or more of the details below:

  • You or your company works in house constructed prior to 1978
  • You or your company renovates, repairs, or paints in areas more than 6 square feet in an interior room or 20 square feet on an exterior wall
  • You or your company replaces windows and/or doors

If you or your company is executing this type of exercise and isn’t compliant, you or your company is open to penalties up to $37,500 per violation, per day.
