ABLE Safety Consulting has spoken with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with reference to this new federal regulation addressed lead-based paint Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program and any task that does replacement or window repair, whether it’s replacing a complete window or just a pane of glass, you’ll be asked to have EPA Lead Removal certification!

EPA Lead Removal Certificate Program

As of April 22, 2010, EPA’s RRP rule requires that:

  • Renovation firms must be certified under EPA’s RRP Rule
  • Individuals must be prepared in lead-safe work practices
  • Training providers be accredited by EPA, ABLE Safety Consulting is an EPA-certified firm

It enforces apartments, child-occupied facilities, residential houses, day-care centers and schools constructed prior to 1978. Firms are required for a EPA Lead Removal Certificate, their employees must be prepared of lead-safe work exercises, that minimize occupants’ exposure to lead risks must be abided. Renovation is generally outlined as any activity that disturbs lead paint and includes most remodeling, maintenance activities and repair, including window replacement.

Thousands of renovators across Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island have already brought this course and have become certified renovators. These individuals learned the particular work drills that are required to protect their clients and themselves from lead contamination, and to grant them and their firm to do work lawfully.
