EPA Certified Renovator Training Class Certification

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) now asks all contractors who do RRP (Renovation, Repair and Painting) projects that may disturb lead-based paint to be Certified Renovator. Work activities including deconstruction, demolition, cutting, or sanding can generate hazardous lead chips and dust by disturbing lead paint, which are tested to be harmful to both children and adults.

The EPA asks that all contractors must be registered for EPA’s RRP Certification by of September 30, 2010 in order to do renovation, repair and painting projects in dwellings, child-occupied facilities, rental facilities, and schools constructed prior to 1978. For any contractor doing this work without the EPA RRP Certification, the federal agency may seek penalties of up to $37,500 per day in every violation.
